Satan reflects on the disappointment of his creation, what is Man, what we have become vs what we had the potential to be. He is no longer here to take over the role from God as our benevolent father (if he ever was, anyway...). He is using us to crush and destroy God, and to revel in the chaos and inhumanity we bring to ourselves. Ultimately, by the end, he doesn't care about us. Once he's used us to achieve his aim - to crush God - he'll ramp it up on mankind for his own amusement…
WRATH: Reflection on things today and this horrible, hate-crime saturated world we live in. As we know, the Earth is fucking horrible hate-filled place at the moment, and perhaps (in the context of this album, anyway) The Devil's greatest trick wasn't convincing people he didn't exist, but was convincing them he is the word of "God"... He sets to work to implant more chaos on Earth, to breed more hate and terror - BUT with mankind increasingly forced to take one side "left" or "right", the voice of conscious begins to stir.... Man begins to realize that he has to dig himself out of this. He has turned his back on God and now has to establish a new way to enforce a moral code without the flawed concept of Heaven/Hell as the reward/punishment. To survive we must come together, one world, one tribe, to challenge hate....

FAILURE
A RANK TASTE SO BITTER
SO FOUL
THE LIGHT OF A THOUSAND STARS ECLIPSED BY VANITY
AS FACILE VERMIN SWARM TO DENY THEIR BLOODBORN MOURNING LIGHT
THIS WASTE OF FLESH AND BONE REPULSES, UNDIGNIFIED
TO STUMBLE FORTH, TO SABOTAGE UNEDIFIED
AN EMBARRASSMENT OF RAGS BURNED RICHES BESTOWED FROM HIGH
THE GREAT DECEPTION, THAT TONGUES UNSPLIT BE FORKED
SQUEEZE THE LIE TIL SANGUINE DRIP, FOR MAN SHALL LIVE FOR NEVERMORE
HATE REIGNS, IN HIS NAME, THE GOD OF WRATH
DUPLICITY DIVINE
THEIR VENIN POISONED MINDS
SHALL WREAK MY HAVOC, ROIL
SOW DISCORD, NO ABEYANCE
FOR I SHALL DENY THEIR DEMISE

Turning and turning in the widening, The falcon cannot hear the falconer; Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world, A blood-dimmed tide, and everywhere; The ceremony of innocence is drowned; The best lack all conviction, while the worst Are full of passionate intensity.Surely some revelation is at hand; Surely the Second Coming is at hand. The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out When a vast image Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert A shape with lion body and the head of a man,A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun, Is moving its slow thighs, while all about itReel shadows of the indignant desert birds. The darkness drops again; but now I know That twenty (one) centuries of stony sleep Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle, And what rough beast, its hour come round at last, Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

Gaerea's first release of "Unsettling Whispers" was in 2018, and since, they dared define a "black metal" niche of their own, they dared to walk a new path and stir shit up a bit in the realm of BM, this album is a masterpiece and a milestone proving that it can be done, provided the band can pull it off, and they did, oh they did! Gloomy, dark, post-BM sludgy whatever, it's Gaerea, and this one belongs in my BC collection, the end. sachavonkarl74

I dig this album so much, definitely a keeper. Subtly and masterfully mixing death metal subgenres, backed with an over the top production. They're true professionals. Can't wait for their next release! doive
